Section 504 Plan

A Section 504 Plan is an education plan based on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  The implementing regulations prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability by any program or activity that receives or benefits from federal funding.  Section 504 requires that disabled students be provided with a free appropriate public education including education with non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate.

If you feel your student requires a 504 Plan to fully access a free appropriate public education please contact your building principal.  Additional questions can be directed to Kim West, Director of Student Services, and you can access the Lyons 103 District 504 Handbook here.
