CrisisAlert™

Lyons School District 103 is committed to the safety and well being of our students and staff as a top priority. To facilitate a layered approach to safety and security, Lyons 103 will be implementing a new system called CrisisAlert™ during the 2025-2026 school year. This empowers all staff to request help from anywhere on campus. Each staff member will wear a badge with the ability to activate two types of alerts:

  • Staff Alert: This is triggered when a staff member presses the button on their badge. An immediate alert is send to school responders showing the exact location of the staff member in need. Examples of use could include responding to medical emergencies, behavioral incidents, and other safety situations that wouldn't require everyone on campus to be alert or in the event a staff member doesn’t have access to a phone, like in the hallway for an example.
  • Campus-Wide Alert: A campus-wide alert notifies everyone of a potential threat, and directs everyone to seek a position of safety immediately following lockdown procedures. The system uses audio and visual notifications which include flashing strobes in areas throughout the buildings and instructional messages onto computer screens as well as intercom announcements. This ensures the message is seen and heard throughout the building. A campus-wide alert also immediately notifies first responders. Activating a campus-wide alert would be the same as calling 911 and reporting a threat.

Staff training will begin in August 2025 and will continue throughout the school year to ensure staff feel comfortable and confident using the system in all its capabilities as well as minimizing the possibility of unnecessary campus-wide alerts. In the event of a campus-wide alert, the school will notify parents/guardians as soon as possible.
