Parent Tech Survey 2010 Results
The results from this year's parent tech survey (and results from previous years) can be viewed below. As always, we appreciate how many of you took the time to complete and return the survey. The return rate the past few years has been between 50-55% (of district families). While that may not sound like a great number, it is actually pretty good for a voluntary survey.
Just to review: the "Parent Tech Survey" helps the district better understand the availability of technology in the home, and influences decisions about how we communicate information to our parents. While the distict always wants to be moving forward with technology and will use resources like the website or e-mail to let parents and the community know what is going on, we also do not want to leave anyone behind or left out.
Many of the results are consistent with our totals from previous years. Access to a computer in the home is approaching 90%, with more than 80% having Internet access. The district offers home access to several of our learning resources from home (such as textbook materials and World Book Encyclopedia). This year's survey also asked about interest in being able to check a student's grades from home. More than 80% would like to see that capability, and you'll be able to starting this fall.
The area where we still need to improve the most is in giving parents a reason to visit the district and school websites. We have made good progress this year in publishing more current news and providing more information and resources on-line. We will continue to work on this and give our parents and community a reason to stop by often and see what's going on in the district.
Once again, thanks to our parents for your helpful feedback.
