Dear Parents:
As the song so aptly states "June is bursting out all over". All we have to do is look around. The leaves on the trees are full and green, flowers abound, and the entire world seems to be bursting with life.
There is also a spirit within us now that anxiously awaits to be out of school and into the "life under the summer sun". This is as it should be. Summer offers us opportunities we have at no other time of the year.
While the summer brings a momentary end to school, it does not bring an end to education. Over these past ten months our students have been working at their studies and learned many things, which they did not know when school began. It has been said that we get out of life what we put into it. Our students’ efforts in studying, reading, writing, and in the hours they have put into their classes have been rewarded by the new knowledge they have gained; knowledge that no one can ever take away from them.
As 2009 – 2010 school year draws to a close and summer approaches, remember that learning continues, for all of life is a school, and we learn by everything we do. Remember to keep your children engaged in reading activities. If children do not read over the summer they lose out at the beginning of the new school year.
It is my sincere wish for you and your children that the coming summer hold only pleasant experiences for you. May you live life to its fullest; may you enjoy it; and may you learn.
Have a great summer. We look forward to seeing everyone in the fall. Congratulations to our 5th graders, who will be moving on to George Washington Middle School.
