Lyons Elementary School District Goals 2015-2016


Goal Area – Student Achievement

Vision/Goal – All students will have the knowledge and skills necessary
for their next level of learning.

  • Objective 1: The District will measure academic progress of each student in Grades 2-8 .
    • Indicator 1.1: Implementation of MAP testing
  • Objective 2: The district will target an increase in Student Growth as measured by MAP in grades 2-8.
    • Indicator 2.1: Assimilation and monitoring of MAP data
    • Indicator 2.2: Create a K-1 tool
Goal Area – Curriculum

Vision/Goal – We will provide instructional and extra-curricular programs
to help students reach their highest potential.
 
  • Objective 3: The District will continue implementation of Common Core...
    • Indicator 3.1: Implementation of Common Assessments and PARCC
  • Objective 4: The District will collect and analyze data from assessments to drive instruction.
    • Indicator 4.1: ACCESS, AIMSweb, MAP, Common Assessments and PARCC
  • Objective 5: The District will partner with Illinois RtI Network.
    • Indicator 5.1: During this 3rd year, we will continue to meet and improve our RtI and DCM Process.
  • Objective 6: The District will continue with the implementation of the CLM.
    • Indicator 6.1 Common assessments, Instructional calendar, Learning Log Meetings.
Goal Area – Climate

Vision/Goal - We will support a culture of respect among the school community.

  • Objective 7: Administration will identify specific programs that promote respect among all stakeholders.
    • Indicator 7.1 “Second Step”, Anti-bullying, PBS, Mentoring, Low-Intensity Strategies
Goal Area – Fiscal Stability

Vision/Goal - We will maintain fiscal stability and be good stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars.

  • Objective 8: Budget recommendations to the Board will connect to improved student learning opportunities.
    • Indicator 8.1: The district will assess the cost efficiently of THINK and after school and extracurricular programs.
  • Objective 9: Administration and Board will develop a process for monitoring discretionary spending.
    • Indicator 9.1: The administration will implement procedures for accounting, purchasing and approval of projects.
Goal Area – Communication

Vision/Goal - We will expand communications among all members of the District 103 community.

  • Objective 10: The District will improve written, electronic and visual communications that reflect the pride and current information in the district.
    • Indicator 10.1: Website, District Newsletter, and SchoolMessenger
  • Objective 11: A procedure update, using the services of the Illinois Association of School Boards’ Policy Services department, will follow the policy update.  
    • Indicator 11.1: Completion of Procedures
Goal Area – Facilities

Vision/Goal – We will provide a safe and comfortable environment that is conducive to learning.

  • Objective 12: To be resourceful in school projects related to the safety grant and facilities as determined by the school board       
    • Indicator 12.1: Implementation of stages of the safety grant and consideration of facility improvements

Mission
The mission of District 103 is to provide an excellent Pre K – 8th Grade education that nurtures the academic, social, physical and emotional development of every student in a trusting, safe environment.

Vision
All students will have the knowledge and skills necessary for their next level of learning.
We will provide instructional and extra-curricular programs to help students reach their highest potential.
We will promote a climate of respect among all members of the District 103 community.
We will maintain fiscal stability and be good stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars.
We will encourage and expand communications among all members of the District 103 community.

Student Achievement
• The District will measure academic progress of each student in Grades 2-8 through the implementation of MAP testing.

Programs/Services/Curriculum
• The District will complete implementation of the Common Core curriculum.
• The District will continue the District Curriculum Development process.
• The District will collect and analyze data from assessments: Comprehension, Unit Tests, ISAT, ACCESS, AIMS web, and MAP.
• The District will partner with Illinois RtI Network.
• The District will assess the effectiveness and cost efficiency of special education programs, including the gifted program.
• The District will coordinate differentiation of instruction using grade level “I can” statements.

Climate
• The District will continue to support a culture of respect among the school community with specific programs, such as Second Step, Anti-Bullying and PBS.

Financial Stability
• The Administration will present the Board with budget recommendations tied to improving student learning opportunities.
• The Administration and Board will develop a process for monitoring discretionary spending.

Communication
• The District will improve written, electronic and visual communications that reflect the pride in our district at our schools.
• The Board will conduct a policy manual update, using the services of the Illinois Association of School Board Policy Services Department.
